The mayor of a town in South Florida has sued critics in a Florida state court for $10 million in damages for libel over their claims he accepted bribes in exchange for political favors.

Stephan Lopez of the Stephan Lopez Law Firm represents the plaintiff, Mayor Roberto Martell of the Town of Medley. Martell sued the defendants, Yenny Lorenzo, Olga Quinn, Medley First, and Elenor Lopez, for allegedly “engaging in well-orchestrated smear campaigns” that falls outside of protected free speech under the First Amendment.
